CHRYSLER JEEP DETROIT APBA GOLD CUP July 8-11, 1999
*** GETTING READY FOR GOLD CUP COVERAGE!
Find the raceweek schedule and news links via our home page.
The direct URL to coverage is:

1) First up: we'll have a NewsBits page with the ASAP info.
Keep the window open - automatic refresh every 5 minutes.
2) Our SIGNAL FLAG ONLINE Newsletter. NewsBits will be
collected and emailed once or more daily. For raceweek we'll
echo SFO to the 'powerboat list', so you don't need to be on both.
3) ThunderCam: still images from the 2nd deck of Pit Tower.
Automatic refresh in this window each minute.
*** MADISON RACE JULY 4TH:
Chip Hanauer in PICO takes the win, tying PICO and BUD with 2
wins each this season -- Detroit may be the tie-breaker! Dave
Villwock in BUD flipped on the first lap of the final, he is OK
and their primary hull is expected to be repaired in time for
the Detroit race. Second went to U-20 APPIAN JERONIMO, 3rd to
U-8 LLUMAR WINDOW FILM, and 4th to U-2 HARVEY MOTORSPORTS.
A special note of thanks to WORX FM of Madison for their weekend
long radio and Internet coverage. Thanks too to Cindy & Chuck
Moore for their detailed news reports.
*** UNVEILED - THE NEW JIM CLARY PAINTING
"His Most Memorable Race" [Bill Cantrell's] is depicted with
four brightly colored boats deck-to-deck through the Belle
Isle turn. Bill in "My Sweetie", Stan Dollar in "Skip-A-Long",
Dan Arena in "Such Crust ", and Guy Lombardo in "Tempo IV". It
was very special to see the unveiling in a room at the DYC where
we could look out the window and imagine that day in front of us
(until the evening's deluge anyways).
You have to see it! http://www.thunderfest.com/mmart/mmart.html
The original painting will be auctioned off this Saturday at
the HYDROFEST EXTRAVAGANZA benefit party.
*** WE HAD SOME 'DNS' PROBLEMS IN JUNE
