CHRYSLER JEEP DETROIT APBA GOLD CUP July 12-15, 2001
*** HELLO SUBSCRIBERS
I'd hoped to have a full Signal Flag Online edition for you
tonight, for now the top story ...
*** MIKE HANSON IN THE U-9 TUBBY'S SUBS WINS THE GOLD CUP !
Starting from lane 1, Mike Hanson went wire to wire to win the
2001 Chrysler Jeep Detroit APBA Gold Cup! Congratulations to
Mike, the Jones family, and all their crew for a job well done.
This one is in memory of Horace Carpenter, the U-9's Detroit
sponsor for recent years (as Carpenter Communications).
Second place to Znetix I (Greg Hopp), third to Oh Boy! Oberto /
Miss Madison (Steve David), fourth to Shelby Enterprises / Miss
Detroit Yacht Club (Mark Weber), fifth to Miss Budweiser (Dave
Villwock), and the starting trailer Znetix II (Terry Troxell).
Mike Hanson, the Jones team, and first-time-ever unlimited
sponsor (the Detroit based Tubby's Subs) ... Wow!!
*** MARK WEBER WINS THE J. LEE SCHOENITH AWARD !
The J. Lee Shoenith award goes to the driver with the fastest
overall time, in honor of the old method of determining the Gold
Cup winner. This is the second year in a row that it hasn't
gone to the Gold Cup winner, last year's JLS winner was George
Stratton, Mark's teammate. Congratulations to Mark Weber and
the USA Racing team.
*** STILL TO COME
Please watch our NewsBits page for an index of continuing
updates this week. We have lots of photos to post and are
expecting a couple video clips too.
