CHRYSLER JEEP DETROIT APBA GOLD CUP July 12-15, 2001
*** THE OH BOY! OBERTO [AKA MISS MADISON] REPEATS 30 YEARS LATER
Thirty years after the Miss Madison win at the hometown event,
they've done it again! Congratulations to Steve David, the
team, everyone in Madison, and their sponsor Oh Boy! Oberto.
Terry Troxell (Znetix II), Mark Weber (Miss Emcor) and Dave
Villwock (Miss Bud) all jumped the gun, removing themselves from
contention. Greg Hopp (Znetix I) was second and Jimmy King
(Llumar Window Film) was third followed by Terry, Mark and Dave.
Visit http://www.hydroprop.com/hydros for photos and more info.
The excitement of the crowd was evident on the WORX radio /
Internet broadcast, and we expect the teams will bring that
excitement with them to Detroit!
*** DETROIT NEWS - GOLD CUP FAMILY TRADITION
The Detroit News has a good article about the family tradition
of Gold Cup racing in Detroit:
*** JERRY BELL HAS A NEW SPONSOR!
After the fire a couple weeks ago, it looked like Jerry Bell
would have to wait another year to fulfill his dream of racing
on the Detroit River.
Now we hear that Comcast Cable has stepped forward to help Jerry
get into the event this year. We understand he's picking up a
replacement hull this weekend, giving him just a few days to get
it ready for racing.
Good luck Jerry!
*** A NOTE ABOUT OUR DEDICATED SPONSORS
In a recent issue we mentioned some new sponsors, BankOne,
Andiamo, Kowalski, and Crystal Gardens. Sunoco and Metro Cars
have also joined us.
We especially want to say thank you to our returning sponsors:
And thanks to our media partners as well:
